I am a Maryland artist working in watercolor and ink, creating artwork inspired by the wildlife, landscapes, and seasonal rhythms of the Chesapeake watershed. Through painting and field observation, I explore the connections between place, memory, and the natural world.

After years of teaching and creative exploration, I have dedicated my practice to documenting the natural world through watercolor and ink. A life long personal study of local wildlife has evolved into a broader effort to celebrate the landscapes and living communities of the Chesapeake watershed.

Why the Chesapeake Watershed?

The Chesapeake watershed is a vast interconnected landscape of rivers, forests, wetlands, farms, towns, and cities. Through watercolor and ink, I explore the wildlife, places, and seasonal rhythms that connect these environments, finding inspiration in everything from birds and pollinators to neighborhood green spaces and the changing character of familiar places throughout the year.

Many of my paintings begin with time spent outdoors exploring, observing, and recording the seasonal changes in the places I return to throughout the year.

My Approach

My work combines detailed ink drawing with transparent watercolor washes, allowing line and color to work together in describing both structure and atmosphere. I am particularly interested in capturing quiet moments of connection—between species, seasons, and place.

Through my artwork, I hope to encourage a deeper appreciation for the landscapes and species that make the Chesapeake watershed unique.

We live in a beautiful place!
